On 05/18/17 the Massac County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on West 5th St. in Brookport. Deputies responded and discovered a vehicle and a mobile home with several bullet holes. Shell casings were discovered near the residence. Deputies obtained video from a surveillance system. The video shows 3 subjects approach the residence. It is believed that two of the subjects were caring automatic rifles. In the video you can see the individuals firing at the residence as they run away. It should be noted that the time on the video is off and the actual time would be around 2 A.M. Deputies have been investigating since 05/18/17 and have developed possible suspects. On 05/06/17 an investigation began when it was reported that a chainsaw and a professional paint sprayer was stolen from a property in the 3000 block of Illinois 145 Rd. On 05/09/17 WPSD aired a segment on Massac's Most Wanted. Jeff Anderson was featured as one of Massac's Most Wanted. Shortly after the segment aired, the Massac County Sheriff's Office received a tip that Anderson was at a residence on Jonesboro Rd. Deputies arrived at the residence and learned that Anderson had saw the segment and left the residence. Deputies searched the residence and located the stolen chainsaw and professional paint sprayer, along with other items beleived to be stolen. Deputies recovered evidence they beleived linked Anderson to the theft on 05/06/17. Additional charges on Jeff Anderson are expected.
Deputies are also investigating a theft of an 18 foot flatbed trailer that occurred on 05/02/17 in the 1300 block of Country Club Rd., which is near where the chainsaw and paint sprayer were stolen. The trailer has white rims along with a wooden floor and wooden retaining walls. It is a 2016 Southern Express 18 foot trailer. Stallions was wearing jail issued clothing and restraints when he was removed from the vehicle to be taken into the Massac County Detention Center. Stallions broke away and attempted to flee. Deputies, along with Officers with the Metropolis Police Department began to pursue Stallions.Stallions was surrounded and attempted to flee a few blocks from the Detention Center. Stallions was subdued by use of a tazer and taken into custody. Stallions was returned to the Massac County Detention Center and charged with Escape. Stallions was being returned from Pope County Court where he was just given credit for time served and to be released from their custody. Stallions was being returned to the Detention Center on a Massac County warrant.
