John R. Jaco In the early morning hours of 04/28/16, a resident of a Spruce Dr. contacted the Massac County Sheriff's Office. The resident reported that he woke up to his garage door opening. He had located a male inside of his garage. The male left the area in an unknown vehicle after being discovered. It was believed that the person had entered an unlocked vehicle and used a garage door opener to enter the garage. A hunting knife was taken from the vehicle. It was later discovered that a similar incident had occurred at a resident on Cedar Ln. where a checkbook was discovered missing. An investigation began and led Deputies to a residence on East 17th St. in Metropolis. Deputies located 20 year old John Jaco of Metropolis. Deputies located the stolen knife and checkbook from the Cedar Ln. subdivision. John Jaco was arrested and charged with Residential Burglary and Burglary to Motor Vehicle. Deputies also located other items believed to have been stolen from Cedar Ln. but have yet to discover where the property came from. Deputies are asking residents of the Cedar Ln. subdivision to contact the Massac County Sheriff's Office if they are missing any items they believe have been stolen.
