In October 2018 Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Mt. Pleasant Rd. for a report of a Burglary. Four firearms were reported stolen during the Burglary. The firearms reported stolen were a Ruger 9mm, a Smith & Wesson 40 caliber pistol, a New England 410 gauge shotgun and a Winchester 20 gauge shotgun. Over the course of the investigation Deputies developed a suspect as 19 year old Corey Atkison of Galatia. In April 2019 Deputies located Corey Atkison in Brookport and questioned him. Corey Atkison was arrested and charged with Burglary and Theft and is currently being held in the Massac County Detention. The firearms stolen were not recovered.
