Metropolis Man Arrested, Receives Additional Charges Following Investigation

On 06/26/18 at around 9:00 P.M. a Deputy was called to the 3000 block of North Ave. for a person who was at a residence who had been previously trespassed from the property. A Deputy arrived and found 26 year old Travis Cody Blanton, of Metropolis,at the residence. Knowing that Blanton had previously been trespassed from the property, the Deputy placed Blanton under arrest for Criminal Trespass. Blanton was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center.

At around 11:00 P.M. on 06/26/18 a Deputy was on patrol near Hayes Rd. and North Ave. The Deputy discovered a silver Ford F150 sitting in the middle of the road on Hayes Rd. No one was near the silver Ford F150. The Deputy was aware that the Metropolis Police Dept. had taken a report of a stolen silver Ford F150 from Triplett Dr. Metropolis Police took the stolen Ford F150 into custody. The Metropolis Police Dept. took over the investigation into the stolen silver Ford F150.

On 06/27/18 a Deputy was in the courtroom at the Massac County Courthouse with Travis Cody Blanton, who was in court on the Trespass charges. The Metropolis Police Dept. had completed their investigation into the stolen silver Ford F150. Charges were filed on Blanton for Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. The Deputy served the warrant on Blanton. He was returned to the Massac County Detention Center.
