Warrant Arrest Leads to Chase
On 01/28/16 a Deputy observed 30 year old Christopher Hornback, of Metropolis, riding in a vehicle in Metropolis. The Deputy was aware that Hornabck had a warrant out of Massac County. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested Hornback. Hornback was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center on the warrant for Distribution of a Look-A-Like Substance. |

Three hours after the arrest of Hornback, a call was received stating that someone was trying to break into Hornback's residence. A Deputy responded to the scene and was advised that a vehicle was seen leaving the residence. Another Deputy located the vehicle nearby and attempted to stop it. The vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed. The fleeing vehicle traveled Airport Rd, Upper Salem Rd, Macedonia Church Rd, Mt. Mission Rd, Crim Rd and Long Rd. The vehicle came to a stop on Long Rd near the Joppa Bypass. When the driver exited the vehicle, it lunged forward and struck a Sheriff's Office vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, 26 year old Justin Oliver of Metropolis, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Fleeing/Eluding Police, Reckless Driving and Resisting Arrest. Oliver is a parolee with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Oliver was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center
